I want to go back July 20th, 2008

I’m starting to go through my beach pictures when I really should be doing something more productive but since I can’t bring myself to even look at the pile of laundry that we have accumulated over the last few weeks – here are some more beach shots:

and another of Rowan doing what he does best:

now off to do laundry – yuck.

we’re back July 18th, 2008

Our vacation is officially over and we had the best time ever doing absolutely NOTHING at Bethany Beach.  We literally played, ate, drank and sunbathed the entire week.

Thanks to this family, we didn’t even have to leave the house – the entertainment was provided right to our door and they made us feel strangely normal!  :)   We had so much fun with them and I cannot wait to hang out again and finally finish our Phase 10 game.  Next to watching Kevin kick down a door and seeing Luke Wilson a couple of seats down from us at a bar, meeting them was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!!!!!

Riley with her new BFF Amanda:

Amanda’s older sister Kelsey (she has the best eyes!)

and their cousin Kaitlyn

hilarious Amanda (who my daughter totally worships).  She taught her all kinds of cool things this week like how to be easily excitable and how to say “Oh my God” a thousand times a day (thanks guys).

and some of their beautiful parents:

Thanks for the fun guys and I hope we see you soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully I’ll have some pics of my kids up soon (I only have 700 pics to go through).

boys vs. girls July 09th, 2008

I think I have finally figured out why women gain weight so much faster than men (at least in my house – that is definitely the case).  Take for instance Subject A which we shall call Riley for argument’s sake.  Riley consumed one whole icecream sandwich in the course of one episode of Max & Ruby (approx 22 minutes) while silmultaneously conversing with the analyst (me).  According to my research, the aforementioned icecream sandwich melts at a rate of 2 ounces per second all of which was consumed by the subject with no spills, leftover, crumbs or anything.  Subject B (may as well call him Rowan) was given another icecream sandwich (minus a bite since the analyst absolutely must taste it first) and manages to eat 75% of the sandwich before even a drop has melted.  The other 25% lands on his face, the carpet, his shirt, and even on the dress of Subject A (despite the fact that it didn’t even have a chance to melt).  To make a long story short – what you eat and the rate at which you eat it is irrelevant, it is the accuracy rate that is killing my thighs at the moment.  Thank you to A&B for being such agreeable subjects.  I so enjoy my days of being a child behavioral analyst especially when I get to eat icecream sandwiches and look at these faces (totally unbiased of course):

First off, I have to tell you that I have the best neighbors in the world!  They have been so good to Kev and I ever since we moved to the neighborhood and I love them for that.  They are always entertaining us and feeding us and chopping down our dead trees (and hiding from us when the roofers came to gave us an estimate on our missing roof shingles but I digress…………………joking Joe).  The fact of the matter is that they rock and we adore them and so when Michelle told me how excited she was to have her whole family in town and how pumped she is to meet her new grand-neice, I couldn’t resist busting out my camera to catch a few quick shots of the little cutie (baby Sara – not Michelle although Michelle is quite the hottie but I digress once again).  Here is sweet little Sara who I was lucky enough to photograph this evening and if my little guy wasn’t nudgy today, I’d still be next door whooping it up with Michelle’s super-fun family instead of glued to my computer proofing images.

Rachel and Brody (and the rest of the fam) you are truly blessed but I bet you knew that already!!!!

I love capturing real moments between families and being able to share them – it’s what makes this job so important.  You may look at this picture and think “well it sucks – noone is looking at the camera and I can’t see all of their faces” and I think that’s what makes it so beautiful!  It may not be technically perfect but that’s a perfectly real smile on Mom’s face, that’s a real tackle from her daughter, it’s a real hug from her son, and the baby is ‘really’ interested in Mom’s foot.  This is a real family moment and I would love to have one of my kids just like it (but then I’d have to have another baby and a pedicure would be nice too) so I guess I’ll wait!
