In Love August 31st, 2008

with my new canvas!  This sucker is 40×30 and I love it!  I think everyone should own one (of their own kids – not mine but if you want to put one of my kids then I guess I could be convinced to sell it to you).  haha

out of the mouths August 29th, 2008

On the car ride back from Joanne’s after buying fabric to make Riley’s Halloween Costume (Good Lord – am I nuts?!?!?).

Ri: Mommy, I think I’m an expert on princesses and an expert on catching hermit crabs.

Me:  Yes, you are very good at those things.  I wish I were an expert at something.

Ri: Ummmm, there’s got to be something that you are good at.

Me:  I hope so, can you think of anything?

Ri:  No

About half an hour later while watching tv and telling Kevin about our conversation:

Kev:  Well, what is mommy good at?

Ri:  She’s good at eating!

Shoot me now.  All the things I do for these kids and the only thing she can think of is EATING!?!!?!?!!?  I feel like I have fulfilled my purpose in life and now I’m going to go fill myself with some icecream (can’t disappoint the kids since they think I’m an expert).

Oh and can’t make a post without a picture and since I haven’t taken any lately – I’ll post an old favorite from my blog folder that never quite made it online.  My sweet boy (and coincidentally my favorite child today).  Love those cheeks!!

This is what happens when you let your 4 year old play with her new Barbie makeup case unchaperoned.  Unfortunately my couch and table do not look nearly as fabulous in neon pink eyeshadow with pink frosty lipstick.  Can’t you just look at this picture and tell that she’s destined for greatness someday?!?!!??!  Wait – gotta go, I think Hugh Heffner is calling……………………….she makes me so proud!!!!!!!

love them! August 24th, 2008

I think the thing I like most about doing this are the fabulous families I get to meet and this group was no exception.  Carolina makes you feel like you’ve known her forever when you meet her, her fiance was SO easy-going, her daughter Sophia is a gem, and her future step-son Kael (love his name) is a cutie with the prettiest  most handsome eyes.  We were also fortunate enough to have Carolina’s mother in town from Venezuala to take part in the fun!!  I was really nervous about this session because I have been in bed sick for the past 2 days and wasn’t sure I’d be up to it but they made it so fun and easy for me! So without futher adieu:

what a great find this old wheelbarrow was behind a building!

Thanks for spending the morning with me!!!

confession of the week August 16th, 2008

I have to admit that I’m a closet seamstress (I originally typed sewer but then realized what I wrote, heehee) and I’m really, really bad at it but I can’t seem to stop myself from trying. I’m completely self-taught and my grandmother would probably be totally ashamed if she inspected my work but I still continue to muddle my way through it. I have to admit though that I’ve actually had a success by my standards and I totally love this little apron! It actually has 2 layers but it’s hard to see in these photos. Riley loves it too (which makes it all worthwhile) but I apologize in advance for the quality of this photo because as much as she loves it – she is so obviously annoyed with my incessant picture-taking! I actually bribed her with marshmallows for this one just because I wanted to send it to my friend who is as obsessed with children’s clothing as I am!

Here it is:
