Options are wonderful, we all like to have them. My friend recently asked me why I wanted a studio and why I would choose to take on overhead during a time when the economy is unstable and my answer was “options”. I like having the option to shoot inside AND outside and having a studio allows me that variety. When Tammy contacted me for her maternity session, I loved that we were able to capture some intimate indoor pictures as well as some scenic pictures with her beloved greyhound and almost as-beloved husband. JOKING BRAD!!!
I don’t know what it is about this shot but I love it!!!

ummm, gorgeous much?!?!?!? – so not fair to have hair like that.

the almost-complete family!!!! I cannot wait until March!!!! xoxo

I often think about who my favorite subjects are to photograph and I think I should probably specialize in that one market. So what is my favorite you ask………. high school seniors of course! They are funny, and interesting and their almost-adult-but-not-quite-there-yet ambitions and future plans fascinate me. I love to tag along with them for a day as they tell me how they plan on conquering the world and I believe them. I envy them! Who wouldn’t give their left and right arm to be able to go back to that time and remake the decisions that would shape your entire future??? I remember when I was graduating highschool and I want to be that person again, unafraid yet insecure, intelligent yet naive, etc……..I could go on and on. So on this day, my favorite subject is a highschool senior and after spending an evening with beautiful Haylie, I’d have to be nuts to want to photograph anyone else…..

SO, I have it all figured out. I am Rebecca Coyle and I photograph High School Seniors but whoaaaaaaaaaa there, did you just say you want a newborn session. Why yes, I absolutely adore photographing newborns. I remember being that new mom and feeling like my baby was the most beautiful, most intelligent, most perfect little person on the planet. I remember her newborn tininess and how I’d smell her head a gazillion times a day. I want to be that mom again. Actually I want to be a much more relaxed version of that mom, I want to take the time to drink in every detail of those early days. I want to do it with the wisdom of knowing that my sleep deprivation isn’t so important, the wisdom of knowing that I should take pictures of everything in those early days and I should be IN the pictures because I won’t care in 7 years if I thought I was fat and had bags under my eyes, the wisdom of knowing that the next 7 years will go so quickly that your head will spin. That’s it, it’s settled. I am Rebecca Coyle and I photograph newborn babies. In case you would like some proof:

I’m so glad I found what makes me happy. Wait, what?………you’re a past client and I took these pictures of your little guy in 2009:

and he now has a little brother???? Heck yeah, I love to photograph families. I remember when my baby became a big sister. I want to be that mom again. I would take the time to enjoy my second baby. I wouldn’t feel like I was slighting my first baby by loving her brother just as much. I wouldn’t care that I was sleep deprived again and I wouldn’t mind that it now takes me an hour to get out of my house instead of the half hour it took before. I would get my family pictures taken every year and I would be in them even if I was still blaming my weight on my first baby. I am so excited to see the new version of your family and I love that you trust me to capture it!!! I am Rebecca Coyle and I photograph families!!! (and highschool seniors and newborns and come to think of it, I do maternity as well. I remember when I was pregnant…………………….) xoxoxo

I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday and the realities of getting back to work haven’t smacked you in the fact too brutally yet. I think I should call 2011 the year of the neglected blog. I am appalled by my lack of posting compared to the number of sessions I completed so I thought I’d play catch up this week. I photographed this sweet baby girl back in October and wanted to post some of the images. Her mother loves purple so it was only fitting that we incorporate it into the session!

Happy Holidays: Montgomery County Studio Photography December 12th, 2011
WOW – time to breathe again!!! I had such a great fall season and with the opening of my new studio, this blog has been so neglected. When I first started out, I blogged every session and now I’m lucky if I blog once a month. YIKES. I just wanted to post a few quick shots of one of my favorite and loyal families who came to visit last week! I love seeing them because their mom’s unhealthy obsession with reality tv is just as bad as mine! Kara, thank God there weren’t any video cameras around to catch that parking job. hahahaha.

I absolutely love photographing this age but BOY could he move!!!

Hope everyone has a great holiday!!

Soooooooooo, I don’t usually photograph large groups but I had to make an exception this time. This is one of the funniest and most down-to-earth families you will ever meet and we all go way back. Kathy was a good friend of mine and is still as kind and genuine as I remembered her to be, Rob still cracks me up and I love how he adores his daughter, and Larry – welllllllllllllllllllllll, he is also a great father and really makes me laugh too but I have to admit that I still hold it against him that one time when I was much younger, we went to South Street and he and his friends pulled the knot in the cherry stem trick on me and BOY was I fuming when I figured out a few years later that they were laughing at my expense. I may not be the quickest but in my defense, I was also the only one who wasn’t 21 yet. Anyway………I should probably get over that since it was ages ago but unfortunately I’ve been cursed with an elephant’s memory. Okay, back to the pictures, Kathy told me that she wanted to give her mother a gift certificate for her birthday and I was so excited to see them all again. I hope they had as much fun as I did!! I can’t believe how grown up we all are now but it’s so awesome to see old friends and meet their families – I am also so honored that they came to me for pictures!

love this shot of Mom & Dad – I think it was the only G-rated one I had though. hahaha (joking……….kind of).

and the whole family!
