Last week I posted on Facebook that I had an announcement and I received a number of emails asking if I was pregnant.  I wonder at what age people stop assuming that any big announcements are pregnancy related.  Despite my efforts to convince my husband that we need one more, he is not budging.  haha.   My announcement does have to do with these though:

and they unlock this (minus the furniture which is not mine):

Oh my blog April 23rd, 2011

Do people still read blogs?  I’m really curious because between Facebook, Flickr, Forums, and all of the other things that seem to occupy my time these days, my blog has suffered the most.  I may be wrong for assuming that everyone is on Facebook but I seem to constantly have an internal debate on deciding whether to blog or not.  I want to share new work on my blog yet I’m afraid of the overkill since I usually have already posted them on Facebook.  So if you are reading this, I would love your feedback!  Speaking of Facebook, I have finally opened up a Rebecca Coyle Photography Facebook Page which you can find if you click on this sentence. Any/all “likes” are very much appreciated.  Now onto some new work:

First up – a super cute newborn who has everyone wrapped around his finger!

Next is one of my favorite families who braved a crisp March night for their session and lugged around mom’s shoe collection with no complaints (sorry Heather – you asked for it).

another handsome newborn with his beautiful momma.  Seriously – was I the only one who looked like a hot mess after having a baby?  These moms put me to shame.

That’s all for now but up soon will be some of my new favorite shots of my little family and our new baby, Ivy.

So, I have been really MIA (in case you need me to state the obvious).  I haven’t even blogged any of my fall sessions which makes me sad but I have been working.  I have a new site www.rebeccacoyle.com which has consumed way more of my time than I thought it would. I have also been waiting for a meaningful post to pop into my head like magic but it hasn’t happened.  I do want to share a recent story though……….

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a prospective client who asked for proof that I am a tax-paying business and I thought, “wow, that’s a new one”.  I shared my tax id number with her and provided her with any other documentation she requested.  She was very apologetic for requesting proof that I am a legitimate tax-paying business but I LOVED that she asked this.  Every client should be provided with a receipt for my services and products all of which are taxable items.  I hate to sound all preachy but if you are not getting this then chances are, you may be hiring someone who is not paying taxes on their photography income and in addition to being illegal, they are not contributing to your community.  I know there are many out there who charge a low fee and then claim they are just doing this as a hobby.  Taking income in any form without paying the applicable taxes is illegal whether you view it as a business or not.  Our school district is in a major financial crisis to the point where our full day Kindergarten is being reduced to a half day.  This has greatly upset our community to the point where parents are contributing financially (above what is paid in school taxes) to come up with the revenue required to keep the full day program.  I think this is a huge undertaking but I love that the community is coming together on behalf of our children’s education.  How does this relate to my tax spiel?  Well, obviously I think we should all be supporting tax-contributing businesses and encouraging them in our area.  My contribution may be a small raindrop in our local pool of debt but it’s a contribution nonetheless and one that I am proud of (even if I cringe and gripe about writing the check).

Rant over and on to a small bundle of happiness:

Despite being almost kicked out of multiple locations, I had a blast with the Summers family.  They were so polite in laughing at my corny jokes and in teaching me that while I’m trying to act cool – I’m TOTALLY not (yes Kyle, I said “totally” which I learned is an anything but cool term).  I came home from this session and went straight to my neighbors who reaffirmed that I should indeed drop that word from my vocabulary so I’m working on it.

Anyway, I digress as usual.  I was so glad I was able to meet these guys before Kyle heads off to college and I wish him so much success at Widener (and maybe a little bit of fun too).  Thanks for spending your Friday evening with me!!!!

What more is there to say – I mean, look at them!!!!!!  Seriously not fair that she looks that good after having 3 kids.  If she wasn’t one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, I would have a really hard time liking her!  haha.
